To date in Ipswich and Stowmarket, we have 210 cats missing, most over the last 8 months, the press report Ipswich only, although they are aware our figures include Stowmarket. Not all the missing are on our website as no photo has been included, although we are working on entering their details without in an easy to read way.
The Pledge currently stands at £2200, and we hope this will increase over time to generate leads to find out where the missing cats have gone. Getting local businesses involved will greatly help, as well as trying to get our local MP, Ben Gummer on board.
I have written to Tim Passmore, but have not received a reply in over 3 weeks. Anyone with concerns should write, or email their local MP, as well as Tim Passmore, the Suffolk Chief Commissioner of crime. The more voices the better.
People have been incredibly generous donating also, and we have over £400, so thank you!
I understand BBC Suffolk radio may be covering the topic of missing cats next weekend, we will update if this is the case. The website has had over half a million hits which we think is fantastic!
Sadly, because people do not report missing cats to the police we are not being taken seriously, so we do urge you to report your missing cat, or in some cases cats, to the police, so perhaps they will see it is a wide scale problem, which sadly not only Suffolk suffer with.
We have a meeting with them on December 15th, at which point I will update.
Please report your missing cat to the police, as well as the council if your cat is not chipped.
You are welcome to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any concerns you have.
